Becoming One with Ourselves

L.L. here, thinking about one of our premier Network photographers—Kelly Langner Sauer. Not long ago, Kelly occupied two online spaces; her blog and photography sites were separate. But anybody who knows Kelly knows that her words and her images, her life and her camera, move together.

At some point Kelly told the world she was no longer going to try to maintain these parts of herself as separate pieces. She unveiled one beautiful, new, oh-so-Kelly site. I love going there. It was a good decision on her part.

Here at HighCallingBlogs, we’re feeling a little like Kelly these days. We occupy this space, but we also have a sister site TheHighCalling. Each has its own strengths and each expresses something unique about our sponsor organization.

Like Kelly, we’ve been thinking it’s time to bring the two parts of ourselves together. Come this Fall, we’ll unveil what we hope will be an oh-so-marvelous TheHighCalling site, where you’ll get the best of what both original sites had to offer.

As we make our way towards this moment, we want you to know we’ve got you in mind. Your feedback on a recent post told us what you love here and what you wish. We want to keep doing what you love and give you even more than you wished for.

Over the next few months, we’ll try to get more specific, and you’ll have a chance to talk to us and ask questions.

Now, if only we could get Kelly to come and do a photo shoot of this exciting community moment…

We’re excited. It’s a big endeavor, but we’re hoping it will bring even more opportunities for our readers. :)

I know that I’m pretty excited about this… I think that it will mean a lot more exposure for our blogging community with the (pretty large) audience at The High Calling that may not be really exposed to the work of our bloggers. And our combined content will be something pretty amazing to see! Should be cool…

Whoa… I’m completely blushing. I feel like stealing my husband’s speech from an award he won unexpectedly – “Wow. I’ll even say it backward – Wow.” He’s classier off the cuff when he’s speechless than I am.

I’d totally do a shoot for you, except the moment will happen in hundreds of different locations, and I’m just not God enough to handle being all those places at once…

I’m dying to see the new site. I know how hard you’ve all been working.

That is SOME speech. ; – ) Maybe I will borrow it someday!

Sorry to make you blush. Your story was the perfect story. And, besides, I like highlighting you.

(Speaking of which, congrats on your collaborative photography site with Claire Burge and Sarah Haliwell… two other people I love! http://threefromhereandthere.blogspot.com/ )

Kelly is always shaking things up .. in a good way! :)

Yeah, the two shall be as one. A holy matrimony… and blessings all around!

Can’t wait for the unveiling. May it bring more eyes and hearts to everyday faith!

I immediately thought of Kelly (in a good way :) ) when considering how to write this post. More because her experience illustrated the “one shall become one” principle. There comes a time when we do best to put our efforts in one basic direction, so that rather than diluting our strength we increase it.

This feels like one of those times.

I can’t wait. I’m sure it’s just me, but I have been having a difficult time figuring everything out. I always have a sneaking suspicion I’m missing important stuff! This will make things much easier for my little brain.

I love Kelly’s true art — and Linda’s beautiful brain — and LL’s shimmering words — and every single person in this big and wonderful community!

I can’t wait to see what He has for us all around the next corner!

All’s grace,
Ann

Are we going to throw a network party when it happens?

Claire, now you’ve got me thinking. Hmmmm…. ; – )

L.L., mostly I visit the HCB sister site Monday mornings and take a peek at the featured articles I get in my in-box. I am sure that this merging, mixing, blurring, and blending of two into one will be as scrumptious as eating peach pie for dinner. (We did that last night…who could resist, especially when I made the pie in a pizza pan!)

Claire, how does one attend a network party? And do I just smear some of that pie on my computer screen in the hopes you all can taste it? ;-)

Blessings,

Lol, on the pie.

I’m actually thinking we need to have a party of some kind. Whether we make pies and post the recipes or eat pies and post our pictures of eating them. Or something totally different. Thinking, thinking…

I’m looking forward to the merger — I think it will bring new opportunities for bloggers, writers and readers. Plus, I have found the separation of the two a bit confusing in the past…so a merger will alleviate that confusion!

I”ve got my party shoes on! And my fork for the pie. Excited and anxious all wrapped in one.

It’s going to be good…

Let us not forget Charity’s zucchini bread–and there was talk of poppy seed bread, as well, wasn’t there?
