closet pentecostalist's comment had me thinking about how the Holy Spirit of God works in us as believers....

kind of the way that you all went about clearing away a path and areas to build a place for the work and worship of Him.

Blood, sweat, and tears invested into a common goal often produce a whole lotta love and pride in the project and in each other. Bonds that won't be easily broken.

Congratulations!

Gordon, I'm glad you did what you did the way you did it. I could almost taste the Gatorade.

what was exchanged for the work was probably far more a gift of bonding compared to what you all would have received from a one day, three hundred dollar exchange.

thank you for sharing your memories.

What a wonderful story. Like a good old-fashioned barn-raising. I love hearing about how your community chose to tackle this task. More work than it could've been? Yeah, but it sounds like the payoffs were proportional, and that's irreplaceable.

Reflecting on the spiritual implications, I wonder what beautiful oaks and mountain laurels we miss in our own lives if we're unwilling to do the "clearing"?
Another great story :)
