FAITH: Report from a Target store
Dec 3rd, 2007 by azdean
Yesterday, I heard a wonderful report from a lady that’s involved with the same ministry that I serve as a volunteer for here in Arizona.
Her name is Dawn and while she lives in Phoenix now, she is originally from Texas and has an unassuming, quiet but direct manner about her, and she speaks with a wonderful but light Texas accent. She is one of two women that will be running a new ministry called Resto8ion House that will take in two women at a time (just out of prison or similar tough situations), and restore them to wholeness and health.
She said that last week she felt God told her to go to a Target store, and even though she dislikes shopping, she obeyed and found herself “of all things” in the Health and Beauty isle when a lady came down the isle in a motorized scooter. She thought this lady must be why God had sent to Target, so she asked the lady if she could pray for her. This led to asking the lady about her physical problems (severe arthritis that caused her back and fingers to be curled up and severe joint pain) and going over what things were in her past that she needed to forgive others for.
These emotional issues took an hour and a half to go through and pray for and as she prayed for those things the lady said she felt warmth and then Dawn noticed that the lady’s pinkie finger uncurled, so she asked if she could pray for her physical healing.
When she did this, the lady started letting out yelps, and then she started to scream loudly right there in the Health and Beauty isle of the Target store. This brought two of the store’s security guards down the isle, and because the lady in the scooter couldn’t talk at the moment, the guards grabbed onto Dawn’s arm ready to take her away. She tried to explain to them what was happening and tell them that they were making a mistake, but then the lady in the scooter started to laugh. This caused Dawn to laugh and soon the guards were laughing too.
Other people started to come down the isle and soon a number of people were laughing right there in the Health and Beauty isle of the Target store. Finally, the lady in the scooter explained what had happened, and Dawn said she could see that her hands and fingers had uncurled and her back had straightened up. One of the guards said his own mother had called him just that morning describing similar problems and so he asked if Dawn would pray for her. And so she called the security guard’s mom on his cell phone and prayed for her. She felt the warmth too and the pain subsided, but otherwise she didn’t report an immediate healing.
But people in the isle wanted prayer too, so Dawn spent the next two and a half hours praying for people there in the Health and Beauty isle of the Target store (for a total of FOUR hours there). At the end, the guards started to make room for the lady in the scooter to leave, but the lady stopped them saying she didn’t need to use that scooter any more. Instead she said she could walk and she stood up and walked!
Finally, as Dawn was leaving the store, another lady ran after her and asked her to come pray for her daughter who was in her car in the parking lot. Her daughter had MS and Dawn prayed for her as well.
All this came about simply by hearing God ask her to go to a Target store and Dawn being brave enough to obey what God asked her to do.
Would you be willing to do what Dawn did?
