Defeating Isolation

How would you respond if your pastor told you that lots of people in your church disliked you and found you selfish?
Matt Dickerson shares his experience dealing with that exact situation this week over at theHighCalling.org. Since I grew up as an only child and have a tendency to be a bit of a loner myself I can relate to some of Matt’s struggles.
Matt points out that our enemy wants to isolate and destroy us. For me the money quote in his article is
The biggest lies often come wrapped in small truths.
Very true.
Go read the whole thing and learn how you can start Defeating Isolation .

Just a quick thing. The pictures for this post and the “What’s the Goal” post aren’t displaying. Just a little question mark in their places.
Also a loner, also spent most of my time alone, also felt I had no friends. Not long ago someone who has known me most of my life told me, in the course of a conversation on another topic, that as a kid I was vary well liked. That shocked the daylights out of me, I didn’t think I was liked much at all. Matt is spot on. Our enemy will do all that he can to isolate us and have us believe the lie that we are alone.
This is why it is so important that we go out of our way to express not only Gods Love but that we learn to Love as Jesus does.
Matthew 5: 43″You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor[h] and hate your enemy.’ 44But I tell you: Love your enemies[i] and pray for those who persecute you, 45that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? 48Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
