Dear Bloggers,
Before we get to the new site design, we have a few things for you. Lately, we’ve heard the same question over and over. What’s the best way to engage with other folks on HighCallingBlogs.com?
There are two answers.
First, Comment, Comment, Comment!
Gordon, Marcus, and I—and some of you—have been blogging for a long time now. If you’d like more details about how to do this, I posted 15 Ways to Attract Comments like an A-Lister over at SuccessCREEations. We hope you’ll take a look at those and apply some of them to the way you interact with bloggers in and out of the network.
Tools to Help You Find Good Blog Posts
That’s the real trick, isn’t it? Where are the posts worth commenting about? One of the main reasons we started HighCallingBlogs.com is to provide a tool for helping you find places to comment. Our tagline really says it all: Real Community. Shared Values.
You can subscribe to the posts we feature at HighCallingBlogs.com via email or via RSS. And if you’re good at scanning, we recommend you subscribe to the daily digest of all posts in the network via email or via RSS.
But, wait! There’s a second way to engage with folks in the network.
Join Us in Las Vegas!
That’s right. It’s not a typo. We’re sponsoring GodBlogCon.com, the Christian track of Blog World in Las Vegas, September 20-21.
If you’re serious about social media, you don’t want to miss this. (The convention is also good for folks looking to hang out with other Christian bloggers in Las Vegas.)
We realize this may not be the most efficient way to engage folks here at HighCallingBlogs.com, but we’re so excited we had to mention it.
Even if you can’t come, you can help us promote the event by posting our affiliate link for your readers. The GodBlog folks have agreed to donate 10% of the proceeds generated through our links back to TheHighCalling.org and HighCallingBlogs.com. We’re pretty excited about seeing if that works, and we’d love your help.
If You’re Looking for a Group Writing Project…
Head over to Robert Hruzek’s MiddleZoneMusings. This week he’s asked people to write “What I’ve Learned From Transportation.” Since transportation can be such a big part of our daily work—from commuting to travelling for business—we’re really looking forward to what everyone comes up with.
A Little Housekeeping
Some mischievous hackers have delayed the full launch of redesigned site. Not to worry, things are under control. I finished upgrading the WordPress MU software that powerd HighCallingBlogs.com this weekend to the latest and most secure version. You now have a much more powerful and intuitive dashboard if your blog runs on our server. Don’t hesitate to email Marcus or me if anything about the upgrade gives you trouble.
Finally, we thought we’d leave you with this tantalizing visual sneek preview of the new design. We hope you’re as excited about it as we are!
Enjoy!
