More details in a bit. But now that I’ve got your attention, let’s talk about....

The Group Writing Project: “retreat retreat retreat”

This month we’re writing about the importance of retreat. Getting away. Doing the Walden thing to simplify, simplify, simplify. Learning to hear the still, small voice of God.

I’m not talking about just a vacation. I’m not even talking about short term mission trips.

I’m talking about Elijah in the wilderness with ravens. I’m talking about Jesus in the garden early in the morning. I’m talking about L’abri. And Yaddo. And Walden. And that Tom Hanks movie where he’s stuck on the island talking to a soccer ball.

Well, maybe not that last one. But you get the idea. Write about the importance of retreat. If possible, think of a specific retreat you took. Where was it? What happened? What did you learn about yourself and your identity? What did you learn about the world and your priorities? What did you learn about the heavens and the person of God? (Don’t feel compelled to answer all of these questions. They’re just to get the juices flowing.)

Laity Lodge is sponsoring this writing project, so we’d ask that you mention them as this month’s sponsor and link to them at Laity Lodge.

You are welcome to use any of these images to liven up your post. They are all images of Laity Lodge—which is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. Special thanks to L. L. Barkat, artist and author of Stone Crossings: Finding Grace in Hard and Hidden Places and High Calling blogger at Seedlings in Stone for designing the Retreat logos and banner. (Be sure to drop by her blog and tell her you like them.)

Also, Chris Cree will be posting links to all of the entries at his blog. If you want to be included in the list, you’ll need to link to him at SuccessCreeations in your post. Feel free to email him as well.

To Sum Up...

You’ll need to do three things to participate in this month’s Group Writing Project:
  1. Write a post about the importance of retreat.
  2. Link to our sponsor at Laity Lodge.
  3. Link to Chris Cree at SuccessCREEations.

Good question. Laity Lodge has agreed to extend this discount to three upcoming retreats in June and July.
