Thank you for all your hard work in connection with the XXX Quality Rating Project. We appreciate your commitment and dedication.

Effective 3/5/08, your 12-month assignment with XXX will end. You are required to take a three month break. You may reapply to the rating program at the end of the three month term.

Well, crud. If I knew about the 12-month limit, I had forgotten.

There is something very sad about working on a job that you know will end soon.

Yeah, this is contractor’s fate ever since that thing, years back, with Microsoft, where someone complained that they kept contractors longterm to avoid paying benefits, at which point, instead of converting contractors, they let them all go. I think that’s when that new rule came in that if you keep a contractor for more than 12 months, you have to convert them, so now companies simply terminate them and rehire them 3 months later.
