A Different Street

by Satchel Pooch

To a children’s musical production tonight at one of my kid’s fundamentalist buddy’s church. We’ve been there several times before, so I know what to expect, but yet I’m always annoyed at how much they seem to value conformity.

I tried to work through my stuff in real time, though, and came to some peace in time for the ice cream social afterwards. On the way home I remembered a Shaun Groves song:

… do You speak through the imperfect
Or are we too dirty for Your light to get through
I want Your light to get through

Most days I feel like my windows are too shaded, hooded, and dirty to show even a glimmer of God’s light. This is no one’s fault but mine.
