I really should defer this question to excentricbahhumbug, who has far more experience with a far greater range of tools than I have. Nevertheless: It is an axiom that a sharp knife is safer than a dull knife. I would like to qualify this by noting that this depends how mindfully you are using said knife. If, say, one is approaching a slicing task with a higher-than-usual amount of scatter-brainedness and lower-than-usual amount of focus, then perhaps a dull knife might inflict less damage on one’s non-dominant hand. Sigh! Pass the bandages again!
