If I hadn’t tested this myself this weekend, I would call it an urban legend. We had a family gathering at a place that is, apparently, rather plagued with flies in the summertime. One of the hosts said that they had heard that you can tack a gallon-sized Ziploc bag full of water to the top of each doorframe to keep out flies. So we tried it — and though three doors were open through most of the event, there were only one or two flies inside. Sometime during the cleanup period someone took the bags down, and within five minutes there were dozens of flies everywhere. I have no idea why this would work, or if it was just a (large) coincidence, but I offer it for your summer dining pleasure!
