He does not (thankfully) suggest we stop taking meds, but I believe on a fairly deep level there is truth there. I cannot, of my own accord or in my own abilities, detect what that point source might be - but I do know that so long as there are people I am able to reach out to (even if I'd never spoken to them before), I need never feel hopeless for long about any situation or circumstance in my life.
